{"id":637,"date":"2019-04-20T05:00:52","date_gmt":"2019-04-20T10:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/JourneyNotes\/?p=637"},"modified":"2020-04-02T10:08:43","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T15:08:43","slug":"low-point-on-the-path","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/JourneyNotes\/?p=637","title":{"rendered":"Low Point on the Path"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<audio id=\"wp_mep_1\" src=\"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/m4a\/Journey%20Notes%2046%20Low%20Point%20on%20the%20Path%20Accomp.m4a\"     controls=\"controls\" preload=\"none\"  >\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t<\/audio>\r\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\njQuery(document).ready(function($) {\r\n\t$('#wp_mep_1').mediaelementplayer({\r\n\t\tm:1\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t,features: ['playpause','current','progress','duration','volume','tracks','fullscreen']\r\n\t\t,audioWidth:,audioHeight:\r\n\t});\r\n});\r\n<\/script>\r\n\n<p>Every journey has high points and low points.\u00a0 This pilgrimage is no exception.\u00a0 The symbol of the cross reminds us that Christ conquered death.\u00a0 It is also a sobering reminder that He had to die in order to do it.<\/p>\n<p>The death and burial of Jesus was the all-time low in the history of the world.\u00a0\u00a0Christ was taken down from the cross on Preparation Day (the day before the sabbath) and His body was prepared for burial.\u00a0 On the sabbath He lay in the grave.\u00a0 Just as God rested from His work after creation, the Lord&#8217;s body rested again following the crucifixion.<\/p>\n<p>We know very little about that sabbath day.\u00a0 The Gospel accounts stop after Jesus was laid in the tomb.\u00a0 They pick up again at the resurrection.\u00a0 The only information in scripture between those times is an account that leaders of the Jewish community met with Pilate to secure the tomb.\u00a0 What else was going on that day?\u00a0 All we know is that the sabbath was observed.\u00a0 Jesus&#8217; followers mourned and waited.\u00a0 Little did they know that they were waiting on God&#8217;s victory, which was coming in God&#8217;s time.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Lowry was a Baptist preacher well known for his hymns.\u00a0 Here are the words from all three stanzas of\u00a0<em>Up from the Grave He Arose<\/em>, also known by its first line\u00a0<em>Low in the Grave He Lay<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1. Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior,<br \/>\nwaiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!<br \/>\n2. Vainly they watch his bed, Jesus my Savior,<br \/>\nvainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!<br \/>\n3. Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus my Savior;<br \/>\nhe tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!<\/p>\n<p>The refrain to each pair of lines is a jubilant proclamation:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Up from the grave he arose;<br \/>\nwith a mighty triumph o&#8217;er his foes;<br \/>\nhe arose a victor from the dark domain,<br \/>\nand he lives forever, with his saints to reign.<br \/>\nHe arose! He arose! Hallelujah!
