{"id":630,"date":"2019-04-19T05:00:32","date_gmt":"2019-04-19T10:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/JourneyNotes\/?p=630"},"modified":"2020-04-02T10:08:43","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T15:08:43","slug":"pathway-of-the-king","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/JourneyNotes\/?p=630","title":{"rendered":"Pathway of The King"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<audio id=\"wp_mep_1\" src=\"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/m4a\/Journey%20Notes%2045%20Pathway%20of%20The%20King%20Accomp.m4a\"     controls=\"controls\" preload=\"none\"  >\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t<\/audio>\r\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\njQuery(document).ready(function($) {\r\n\t$('#wp_mep_1').mediaelementplayer({\r\n\t\tm:1\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t,features: ['playpause','current','progress','duration','volume','tracks','fullscreen']\r\n\t\t,audioWidth:,audioHeight:\r\n\t});\r\n});\r\n<\/script>\r\n\n<p>By definition a king is the highest authority.\u00a0 No one and nothing has more power than the king, and anyone who threatens a king&#8217;s authority is in danger of making the king angry.<\/p>\n<p>Lots of people wanted to be the king in Jerusalem during the time of Jesus.\u00a0 When Jesus was born, &#8220;king&#8221; Herod was on the throne in Jerusalem.\u00a0 When wise men from the east asked where to find the newborn king, Herod saw Jesus as a threat to his authority and tried to kill all of the baby boys in the land.<\/p>\n<p>Years later when Jesus was grown, another Herod, a son of the earlier Herod, was on the throne in Jerusalem.\u00a0 At the same time the city was under the power of Rome where Caesar was the &#8220;king,&#8221; and Caesar&#8217;s governor for the area was Pontias Pilate.\u00a0 When people began to recognize Jesus as the Messiah, once again He was seen as a threat to royal authority and once again earthly kings sought to take His life.\u00a0 They sentenced Him to die on\u00a0a cross.<\/p>\n<p>Symbols of earthly kings were forced on Jesus.\u00a0 Soldiers draped Him in purple cloth and pressed a crown of thorns on His head.\u00a0 A sign calling Him &#8220;King of the Jews&#8221; was fastened to the cross above His head.\u00a0 Of course, none of this was done to honor Christ.\u00a0 People were mocking Him.\u00a0 They rejected the King of kings so that they could flatter themselves and honor earthly kings.<\/p>\n<p>We have the same choice to make today.\u00a0 Will we honor the King of kings, or will we bow to earthly rulers?\u00a0 Henry Francis Lyte stated his position clearly in the words of his hymn <em>Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Praise, my soul, the King of heaven,<br \/>\nto the throne thy tribute bring;<br \/>\nransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,<br \/>\nevermore God&#8217;s praises sing.<br \/>\nAlleluia!
