{"id":551,"date":"2019-04-09T05:00:42","date_gmt":"2019-04-09T10:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/JourneyNotes\/?p=551"},"modified":"2020-04-02T10:08:44","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T15:08:44","slug":"paths-where-angels-tread","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/JourneyNotes\/?p=551","title":{"rendered":"Paths Where Angels Tread"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<audio id=\"wp_mep_1\" src=\"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/m4a\/Journey%20Notes%2035%20Paths%20Where%20Angels%20Tread%20Accomp.m4a\"     controls=\"controls\" preload=\"none\"  >\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t<\/audio>\r\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\njQuery(document).ready(function($) {\r\n\t$('#wp_mep_1').mediaelementplayer({\r\n\t\tm:1\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t,features: ['playpause','current','progress','duration','volume','tracks','fullscreen']\r\n\t\t,audioWidth:,audioHeight:\r\n\t});\r\n});\r\n<\/script>\r\n\n<p>Angels sang in the heavens when Christ was born.\u00a0 Shepherds in the fields saw and heard them.\u00a0 But that was not the first time that angels had come, nor would it be the last.\u00a0 In the Old Testament Abraham entertained angels unawares, and Jacob dreamed of angels ascending and descending a ladder.\u00a0 In the Gospels an angel told Mary that her son would be the Christ, and angels were at the resurrection, too.\u00a0 The book of Revelation tells us that angels will be there for the new heaven and the new earth.\u00a0 And the examples go on and on.<\/p>\n<p>Alexander Pope observed that &#8220;fools rush in where angels fear to tread.&#8221;\u00a0 Pope may have been right, but he leaves a question.\u00a0 Where do angels <em>want<\/em> to tread?\u00a0 Using the Bible as our guide, they want to go where God sends them, to deliver God&#8217;s message, and to do God&#8217;s will.\u00a0 We could learn a thing or two from them!<\/p>\n<p>Our pilgrim journey is a personal commitment, but it is also a message and a declaration.\u00a0 A declaration that we are committed to lives of obedience and words of love.\u00a0 Whatever we do and whatever we say, our lives fill a role similar to the angels sometimes.\u00a0 We are God&#8217;s messengers.<\/p>\n<p>Laura Copenhaver was the daughter of a Lutheran minister.\u00a0 She demonstrated a talent and passion for the written word, preparing poems, hymns, and pageants for Sunday schools.\u00a0 <em>Heralds of Christ<\/em> is one of her most widely sung hymns.\u00a0 The words inspire us to remember that we are messengers of God, bearing immortal messages to a mortal world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Heralds of Christ, who bear the King&#8217;s commands,<br \/>\nimmortal tidings in your mortal hands,<br \/>\npass on and carry swift the news you bring;<br \/>\nmake straight, make straight the highway of the King.<\/p>\n<p>Angels faithfully brought the message of Jesus&#8217;
