{"id":451,"date":"2019-04-03T05:00:07","date_gmt":"2019-04-03T10:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/JourneyNotes\/?p=451"},"modified":"2020-04-02T10:08:44","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T15:08:44","slug":"protection-along-the-path","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/JourneyNotes\/?p=451","title":{"rendered":"Protection Along the Path"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<audio id=\"wp_mep_1\" src=\"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/m4a\/Journey%20Notes%2029%20Protection%20Along%20the%20Path%20Accomp.m4a\"     controls=\"controls\" preload=\"none\"  >\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t<\/audio>\r\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\njQuery(document).ready(function($) {\r\n\t$('#wp_mep_1').mediaelementplayer({\r\n\t\tm:1\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t,features: ['playpause','current','progress','duration','volume','tracks','fullscreen']\r\n\t\t,audioWidth:,audioHeight:\r\n\t});\r\n});\r\n<\/script>\r\n\n<p>The world can be a scary place.\u00a0 It may be the fear of something that we face or simply the fear of the unknown, but all of us experience fear from time to time.\u00a0 We can respond to our fears in many different ways.\u00a0 We can deny our fears, face our fears, give in to our fears, or overcome our fears&#8211;and that is just barely scratching the surface.\u00a0 How we deal with fear, though, says something not only about who we are, but who we can become.<\/p>\n<p>King Hezekiah faced Sennacherib&#8217;s Assyrian armies twice at Jerusalem.\u00a0 The first time he attempted to buy peace.\u00a0 It cost him all of the gold from the doors of the temple, but it worked&#8211;for a while.\u00a0 Dealing with fear by using earthly resources bought Hezekiah some time, but that was all.\u00a0 The armies came back again.\u00a0 This time there was no more gold on the temple doors.\u00a0 The king had no ransom to buy peace, and even if he did, how long could it last?\u00a0 No, this time Hezekiah would have to deal with the Assyrians in another way.\u00a0 His army was not up to the task, so that was not a viable option.\u00a0 His city walls were not likely to fare any better than those of other cities that had already fallen, so a passive defense by hiding behind the walls wasn&#8217;t a good choice, either.\u00a0 All he had left was prayer, and that was all he needed.\u00a0 He prayed.\u00a0 God answered.\u00a0 The Assyrians were routed.\u00a0 Jerusalem was saved.\u00a0 Sennacherib never tried again.<\/p>\n<p>Martin Luther understood the awesome strength of God, too.\u00a0 He wrote <em>A Mighty Fortress Is Our God<\/em>, which is based on Psalm 46.\u00a0 It is a testament to God&#8217;s might, and also to the will of God for His\u00a0truth to triumph through us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">And though this world, with devils filled,<br \/>\nshould threaten to undo us,<br \/>\nwe will not fear, for God hath willed<br \/>\nhis truth to triumph through us.<br \/>\nThe Prince of Darkness grim,<br \/>\nwe tremble not for him;<br \/>\nhis rage we can endure,<br \/>\nfor lo, his doom is sure;<br \/>\none little word shall fell him.<\/p>\n<p>God protected Hezekiah.\u00a0 He protected Luther.\u00a0 As we continue our journey, remember that He loves us and will protect us, too.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"A Mighty Fortress Is Our God\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mDCdWq8fQX4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
