{"id":400,"date":"2019-03-30T05:00:07","date_gmt":"2019-03-30T10:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/JourneyNotes\/?p=400"},"modified":"2020-04-02T10:09:07","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T15:09:07","slug":"the-way-for-gods-anointed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/JourneyNotes\/?p=400","title":{"rendered":"The Way for God&#8217;s Anointed"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<audio id=\"wp_mep_1\" src=\"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/m4a\/Journey%20Notes%2025%20The%20Way%20for%20Gods%20Anointed%20Accomp.m4a\"     controls=\"controls\" preload=\"none\"  >\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t<\/audio>\r\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\njQuery(document).ready(function($) {\r\n\t$('#wp_mep_1').mediaelementplayer({\r\n\t\tm:1\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t,features: ['playpause','current','progress','duration','volume','tracks','fullscreen']\r\n\t\t,audioWidth:,audioHeight:\r\n\t});\r\n});\r\n<\/script>\r\n\n<p>It can be hard to understand why some traditions live on while others do not.\u00a0 When the Israelites called out for a king, God told Samuel to anoint Saul.\u00a0 Saul looked the part.\u00a0 He was a tall, handsome man of thirty.\u00a0 He began his reign well enough, but he lost his way.\u00a0 He lost his heart to serve God in the decades that followed.\u00a0 Saul&#8217;s son never made it to the throne.<\/p>\n<p>God called Samuel to anoint a new king.\u00a0 This time it was not a tall, handsome\u00a0man, but a young shepherd boy.\u00a0 He would come to be known as a man after God&#8217;s own heart.\u00a0 It took many years, but David, that young shepherd boy, did become king.\u00a0 More than that, generations later the king of kings, Jesus Christ, was born from David&#8217;s family.<\/p>\n<p>Saul was anointed, but he did not follow God&#8217;s path.\u00a0 David was anointed, and he did.\u00a0 What a difference!\u00a0 For one the throne passed out of his family before the next generation.\u00a0 For the other, the throne continues today with the risen Lord ruling in the hearts of His people.\u00a0 And the reign will not end with our generation.\u00a0 Jesus reigns eternally.<\/p>\n<p>On our pilgrim journey we can learn from the past as we pursue an eternal\u00a0goal.\u00a0 Actions and teachings from the past that have survived the test of time provide examples for us to follow.\u00a0\u00a0<em>Come, Holy Ghost, Our Souls Inspire <\/em>is a\u00a0hymn that dates from the 9th century.\u00a0 Originally written in Latin by Rhabanus Maurus, it has been in continual use in the church for over a thousand years.\u00a0 Search the words for their enduring meaning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Come, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire,<br \/>\nand lighten with celestial fire;<br \/>\nthou the anointing Spirit art,<br \/>\nwho dost thy sevenfold gifts impart.<\/p>\n<p>David&#8217;s royal line still lives on.\u00a0 Maurus&#8217;
