{"id":257,"date":"2019-03-17T05:00:15","date_gmt":"2019-03-17T10:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/JourneyNotes\/?p=257"},"modified":"2020-04-02T10:09:07","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T15:09:07","slug":"a-rescue-mission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/JourneyNotes\/?p=257","title":{"rendered":"A Rescue Mission"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<audio id=\"wp_mep_1\" src=\"http:\/\/crosslabyrinth.com\/m4a\/Journey%20Notes%2012%20A%20Rescue%20Mission%20Accomp.m4a\"     controls=\"controls\" preload=\"none\"  >\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t\r\n\t<\/audio>\r\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\njQuery(document).ready(function($) {\r\n\t$('#wp_mep_1').mediaelementplayer({\r\n\t\tm:1\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t,features: ['playpause','current','progress','duration','volume','tracks','fullscreen']\r\n\t\t,audioWidth:,audioHeight:\r\n\t});\r\n});\r\n<\/script>\r\n\n<p>The most compelling stories are based on the most common themes.\u00a0 Love.\u00a0 Paradise.\u00a0 Adventure.\u00a0 Peril.\u00a0 Rescue and the triumph of good over evil.\u00a0 We are drawn to these stories because at some level they relate to our own experiences.\u00a0 We feel a connection because, in a way, they tell our own story.\u00a0 They reflect our own emotions, our own hopes, our own fears.<\/p>\n<p>The Bible tells the story of the world from its creation through its recreation.\u00a0 Humanity fell from paradise to peril, and God immediately set into motion a plan for rescue and redemption.\u00a0 It would not happen all at once.\u00a0 The struggle\u00a0would continue for generations and end with the crushing defeat of the serpent.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of rescue is still compelling.\u00a0 Fanny Crosby, the most prolific writer of Christian hymns, wrote <em>Rescue the Perishing<\/em>.\u00a0 She related that the composer William Doane had suggested the theme to her.\u00a0 A few days later the theme was still on her mind when she spoke to a group of men and a young man answered the call to salvation.\u00a0 Crosby returned home that night unable to rest until she had prepared the words of the hymn.\u00a0 More than thirty years later she was speaking at a YMCA and told the story of the young man who had been rescued.\u00a0 At the end of the meeting one of the people in the congregation said he had been that young man, he had found peace that day years before, and he knew they would meet again in heaven.<\/p>\n<p>Remember how God has rescued you as you read these words:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,<br \/>\nfeelings lie buried that grace can restore;<br \/>\ntouched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness,<br \/>\nchords that were broken will vibrate once more.<\/p>\n<p>The journey to the foot of the cross is a story of rescue.\u00a0 Christ is our rescuer.\u00a0 Jesus is merciful.\u00a0 Jesus will save.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rescue the Perishing\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DKpf221aMPQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
